Hello all,

I am excited to announce the arrival of our new Brand Director: Russell Gossett.

Russell will lead our Brand team of senior designers, brand, and creative leads, as they launch brands and marketing campaigns for NPR’s shows, products, and platforms. With his team, Russell will also bring renewed focus to the larger NPR brand—working closely with other departments to define NPR’s overall brand expressions across platforms and how it extends to our show brands and other sub-brands.

Russell joins us with 15+ years of experience in brand and creative leadership — and a strong design background that extends across brand, marketing, and UX. You may remember Russell from his role as a Product Designer at NPR from 2011-2016, which equipped him with an in-depth understanding of the nuances of NPR, the ambitions of our member stations, and the ability to think beyond conventional design solutions to create a listener-centric approach.

Russell is a former Creative Director at The Atlantic, where he shaped brand strategy and led visual redesigns for local newsrooms, nonprofits, and corporate clients such as Google and Mastercard. Most recently, he led both brand and UX design at Nitro Software, where he oversaw a major rebrand, marketing campaigns, product launches, and brand activations. Under his leadership, the company achieved over 150% organic traffic growth year over year. Russell has also worked as a Design Lead at Netflix, where he led the design strategy of key products for the company.

Russell is also a strong and passionate mentor and people manager, with a track record of fostering an inclusive workplace culture, building strong relationships, and launching campaigns that engage diverse audiences.

Please join me in welcoming Russell (back) to NPR!
